Davenport Desk Restoration

“I write to thank you for undertaking such excellent work on restoring our Davenport Desk. As you know, it has been in our family for some time and, over the years, has suffered from occasional problems associated with daily living. The rising unit with the desk had not been accessible for a long time and it was a surprise to discover what you found in the storage sections. It was interesting to understand how the unit operates and the counter-balancing role of the cast iron weight. The photographs that you sent of the restored foot unit are a testament to your expertise in restoration and the way you have addressed the chips and blemishes have created a very fine and improved piece of furniture. The overall shading of the walnut looks more uniform, and you have resolved the fading effect of the sun. The desk now stands proudly in the lounge attracting many positive comments. Thank you for a job well done; we will certainly recommend your skills and craftsmanship to others.”

Rolls Royce 20/25

Written as part of a recommendation to the Rolls Royce Forum.

“I have just driven my 1935 Rolls Royce 20/25 back to Windsor from Gosport where a craftsman named Justin Newman, who used to work for the Royal Household, has established his own one man business. He is essentially a wood craftsman and expert in repairing furniture etc. The woodwork around my windows and the front facia, which were very faded after 86 years, have been beautifully matched up with the other internal woodwork and broken pieces replaced. It must look now look as it did when new!”
